Brazil Cultural Tour

The Brazil Cultural Tour allow you to see up close the diversity of Brazilian music and the importance of culture in daily Brazilian life. You will learn music, play with locals, and spend time with social groups that use music and culture as a means of community, education, and identity. The trip is split into three areas: Rio, a small beach town, and Salvador. The time spent playing and listening to music will be balanced with realxing time on the beach and trips to the rainforest, cocoa farms, and other ecological excursions.

Sample itinerary.....


Day 1
Arrival in Rio de Janeiro. Get situated at Hotel and have lunch in the center of the city. Afternoon excursion to the famed beaches of the south zone of the city, and Sugarloaf Mountain, followed by a dinner, and party in the Cantagalo favela.
Day 2
Morning walk in local market. Afternoon excursion to music and culture project for kids in the north zone of Rio. Return via Tijuca rainforest and dinner in the historic Santa Teresa district of Rio. End day with show at Samba club in Lapa neighborhood.
Day 3
Saturday Morning trip to local market to see choro music. Afternoon at popular Ipanema beach. Evening spent with Rio samba school.
Day 4
Rio-style sunday spent at Botanical Gardens, beach, and neighborhood botequim bar.
Day 5
Flight to Salvador. Settle into hotel and walk the historic central district. Afternoon visit with local music group. Dinner and live music at night.
Day 6
Morning trip to Barra beach, followed by return to hotel and lunch in city center. Afternoon percussion class and visit with local group. Evening Dinner and live music in the Pelourinho.
Day 7
Morning music presentation. Afternoon soccer game. Evening music.
Day 8
Flight to Ilheus and transport to Itacare village. Lunch at beach. Evening forro music.
Day 9
Morning hike through rainforest to hidden beach. Afternoon trip to organic cocoa farm. Evening music.
Day 10
Morning hike to Jeribacacu beach. Afternoon final percussion class. Evening capoeira presentation.
