FAQ
Do I need a visa? Yes. Visas are required to board a plane heading to Brazil. They currently run about $100,
and we highly recommend using a visa expeditor to avoid potential delays in sending your passport to
the consulate. We have an expeditor that we use in Houston and we highly recommend him.
Do I need to take any medication before departing? No. We will not be at risk of malaria or any other tropical
diseases.
Should I make any special preparations regarding the food or my diet while in Brazil? No. You will find the food
to be very healthy and purified water is readily available and the norm. We can accomodate any special diet needs.
In what form should I bring money? Bank machines are plentiful and available at every stop along the way. Withdrawing
money with your debit card is the easiest way to go. We do not recommend bringing traveller's checks, which can
be difficult to exchange and will cost more in transaction fees.
Should I be concerned about safety? No, but you should always be aware. Crime is a reality in Brazil, as it is in the US.
When we visit the poorer neighborhoods we will be amongst friends that Ty has known for years, and there is an orientation
regarding safe travel when we arrive in Brazil.
